2016-09-20 : To the sea .. and a loop inland to the Mountains
Yesterday we woke up to rain so we asked Leo if he would take us to his favorite grocery store .. which he was happy to do .. So we loaded up with food for a good 5 days!
Sun broke out at 11am .. so off we went to the coast! The direct route, on what was to be quiet roads, was a bit hilly .. and we got lost in the second hilltop village but finally found the beach! Well, the beach is over rated .. and all roads to the beach seem to be busy .. however our return route turned out to be much better and so in the end it was a race against the rain to get home. We lost .. but it was no loss as it rained for only 20 minutes and we took shelter for the worst of it. Not the best ride but now we know!
Today we woke up to wall-to-wall sunshine and selected a variant on a 76km route that we were pretty sure would give us great ridge top roads and views on quiet roads. We were not disappointed! Most of us got back in time for a swim in the pool and a beer on the patio! (Doug managed to turn the route into a 98km adventure)
Dinner was delicious! Rosemarie cooked up a bean and pork dish that was great!
It is going to be hard to beat today's ride tomorrow .. but we'll try!
