Hi All,
2nd try with this email .. :(
Today we woke up to a poor weather forecast and contemplated a ride into the clouds .. but then opted for a short 30km loop taking us along the base of North Mt Etna.
We started with a short decsent out of town then climb climb climb til 15km mark followed by a nice descent to the junction of the North Etna road. To our surprise, the return route took us up high above Castiglione before a switchback descent across a bridge and a race to the top on cobble stone.
600m total ascent in 30km with great views of the town and surrounding valleys/Mountains! ...and then the rain started.
The afternoon has been a lazy one with some snoozing and periodic rain showers and then a tour of the town.
The weather for a Mount Etna climb tomorrow is looking promising!
Cheers!
Harold and Marion
