We arrived today on an Airtransat flight to Basel-Mulhouse airport .. and walked out the door with our bikes and found ourselves in Switzerland! (The airport is on the border with France/Switzerland).
Having researched our route well in advanced, we had no trouble finding the bike paths that took us on a tour of the small town of St. Louis to the south before swinging around to the north, crossing in to France and finding the canal bike path heading north!
65km later we arrived in Neuf Brisach! This is an old walled village in the centre of the Alsace valley and we have a nice apt here for 4 nights before heading to another 4 day stay in Strasbourg.
We were pretty tired with jet lag but managed to buy some groceries and have dinner out at a nice creperie off the square before falling into bed ..
Lots of cycling in this area .. and all the town's like to dress up an old bike or two as you can see in the attached pic!
